The Kahi Warehouse Gateway is an integral component of the Kahi tracking system. The Warehouse Gateway will turn any workshop, warehouse, or other building you store equipment in as the home base for your assets - this is why it is important to install this device before anything else.
Please note that only the "Owner" and "Manager" user types have permission to install/uninstall gateways.
What you will need:
- Kahi Warehouse Gateway unit and USB-C cable (tip: keep the barcode on the bubble wrap for future use)
- Kahi mobile app (download available here) for provisioning
- Electrical power access (preferably an outlet located in a secure area)
Please watch the installation video or read through and follow ALL 3 STEPS outlined below.
STEP 1: Warehouse Location
⭐️⭐️New Kahi customers will have a warehouse location ALREADY CREATED in your Kahi account using your sign-up information. If you are a new Kahi customer, please SKIP to STEP 2.
Existing Customers: If you are adding an additional Warehouse location to your account (multi-locations), follow the steps below!
- Your warehouse location should be created in the web application, as the mapping options offer more precision. This permission is only available to select users. Once the warehouse has been created, scan your gateway and proceed. Follow the directions here on how to add a warehouse location in the web app or mobile app.
- PLEASE NOTE: ONLY create/add a warehouse when you are ready to install the Warehouse Gateway. When a warehouse is added to your account, this will adjust your invoicing/monthly fees ($150 per month per warehouse created, regardless of whether the Kahi Warehouse Gateway is installed).
Creating a new Warehouse Location from the Web App:
- From the menu on the left, select "Warehouses".
- Click the green "New Warehouse" button in the upper-right corner, and type in the address of your new location/warehouse.
- Choose the address from the suggested addresses that appear in the dropdown menu.
- Rename the Warehouse to something unique!
- Opt-in the users who will need permission to view this Warehouse. This includes yourself. You can opt all users in, or pick and choose.
- Click "Create" - your new warehouse location has been created.
STEP 2: Installing the Kahi Warehouse Gateway
- Remove the Kahi Warehouse Gateway from the bubble wrap, keeping the barcode label that’s printed on the wrap handy for provisioning later on.
- Secure the Kahi Warehouse Gateway in your warehouse/storage area in an unobtrusive area, preferably high up on a wall overlooking where most of your assets will be situated and near equipment exit points. We recommend using a zip tie to keep it in place, and to ensure the power source won’t be disrupted.
- Once secured, plug the Kahi Warehouse Gateway into your USB-C power adapter. We suggest using a surge protector, if possible. If you experience a power surge, you may need to use a new electrical plug post-surge to bring the device back online.
-
Three lights will be activated upon powering up; there are no buttons to press to activate the unit.
- The Kahi Warehouse Gateway will take about 15 minutes to complete its firmware updates after the install is complete. Once the bottom light (blue) stops blinking and goes into a regular blue/fading pattern, the Gateway is connected to the cloud network, and your crew can commence provisioning your asset beacons!
STEP 3: Provisioning Kahi Warehouse Gateway
- Using the Kahi app, click on the three lines in the upper left corner to open the Menu options.
- Click on "Gateways"
- On the "Gateways" page, click on the "Barcode" scanner in the upper right corner
- Scan the serial number/barcode on the back of the Warehouse Gateway. This is the same barcode that is located on the bubble wrap packaging, so if it's more accessible, you can scan the barcode from the packaging instead.
- Once scanned, the app will prompt you to “Install Gateway”. Add the install area and select your location, then hit “Submit”. You will be prompted to take a picture of the unit in its installed area.
