To replace (swap) or remove (detach) a tracking beacon from a piece of equipment, you will need access to the Kahi Configuration mobile app.
An important note: deleting an asset from within the Kahi web application will not free the asset from its associated beacon - if deleting an asset, you will first have to Detach its beacon to reuse in the future.
To start:
- Pull up the asset in question in the Configuration app by either scanning the QR code on the associated beacon using the app’s QR Scanner or search the asset’s name on the app’s home page.
- “Actions” button located on the asset details page will give you the option to either Swap or Detach the asset’s beacon.
SWAP
Swap a beacon to replace a broken or damaged beacon on a piece of equipment with a new beacon.
To remove a beacon from an asset but continue to track the asset with a new beacon:
- Select SWAP option under "Actions". This will allow you to assign a new beacon to the asset that is already in your inventory list.
DETACH
Detach a beacon from an asset that you no longer want to track, so that the beacon can be reused on another item.
To detach a beacon from an asset that you no longer wish to track:
- Select Detach option under "Actions". This will free up that particular beacon to be used on other assets.
- The asset can then be deleted in the Kahi Web app to remove it from your inventory.
HOT TIP: If you have an asset that has lost its beacon, you can still swap and/or detach the previously assigned beacon from it via your Kahi mobile app, even without the physical beacon! Simply log into the Kahi web app, find the affected asset from your asset list, and look at the asset detail page. You can scan the QR code with your Kahi mobile app for the asset right from your computer screen, as we include a copy of it in the details.
